Rancho Bernardo Inn – Woodsy Inspired Indian Wedding
Not all Indian weddings are alike. Many people often think that Indian weddings are only held in large ballrooms. We love breaking the mold and re interpreting the traditional Indian Wedding, and so do our clients. Our couple Vanessa and Rishi felt the same way, and that’s why it was a perfect collaboration for us. The beautiful Rancho Bernardo Inn lends itself to a hidden forest feel. For the ceremony we played off of what nature provided to us. We made sure to honor Sikh Wedding Traditions with a mandap that we adorned with an abundance of eucalyptus, roses and vines, with soft draping for a bit of elegance. And of course Lord Ganesh was there to keep tradition alive. For the reception we brought the outdoors into the ballroom to keep with the couples desire of a woodland theme.
Bringing the elements of nature into a ballroom takes vision and we were up for the challenge. The traditional stage for the couple is usually very opulent, but this needed to be unique. To create the feeling of a vineyard, we used grape vines with white orchids that from afar looked like an actual grapevine. They appeared to be floating on a hedge wall that was the back drop for their stage. We love how the modern leather lounge worked as a stunning contrast to the back drop. Our couple was thrilled with the outcome. To keep with the outdoor theme, we used beautiful blossoms mixed with magnolia leaves throughout the reception flowers. Over the long family style tables we created a structure that felt like an arbor, with dripping orchids that gave the guests a feeling of dining under a grape vine. An added touch to bring romance to the room, we hung glass orbs from the structures filled with candles and warm light. Through creative thinking and a willingness to mix original ideas with traditional cultural norms, we succeeded in creating an overall design that brought out our couple’s love of the outdoors.
